By most accounts, nursing is a very honorable profession and many people opt for this type of career where they can be of serious service to their fellow citizen. Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Scholarship
This scholarship program is designed for individuals wishing to focus on oncology or cancer-related nursing. The ONS Foundation provides scholarships, awards and research grants for qualified applicants. In fact, they offer more than 70 separate monetary awards each year.
Mary Opal Wolanin Undergraduate Scholarship
Individuals who are members of the National Gerontological Nurses Associates can apply for the Mary Opal Wolanin Undergraduate Scholarship. This nursing scholarship is valued at $500 and is available to one applicant per year. The qualified applicant should be a graduate nursing student who is majoring in gerontology/geriatric nursing. Further, they must carry at least six credits per semester.
Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Nursing Student Scholarships
This professional organization provides scholarships to registered nurses who are interested in professional careers in operational nursing. This award is not available to high school students however international nursing students are welcome to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship award varies from year to year and will cover the cost of nursing school tuition and books.
Miriam Fay Furlong Grant
This foundation provides a nursing scholarship for junior or senior level undergraduate students who are members of Alpha Tau Delta, which is the national fraternity of professional nurses. The amount of this scholarship varies from $100 to $1000 each year.
American Quarter Horse Foundation (AQHF) Nursing Scholarship
Both high school students and college level nursing students are eligible for this scholarship. To qualify, applicants must be members of AQHF and planning to pursue a career in either education or nursing. There is one award given each year and it is valued at $10,000.
Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) Scholarship Program
This professional organization affords two scholarship awards each year to students that are working toward a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree. Each of the two scholarships provided are in the amount of $1,000.
