Single and Married Mothers Can Go Back to School With Free Money Using Scholarships and Grants

President Obama is trying a lot of things to get the economy working again. Several of his initiatives are aimed at helping people get better jobs. He’s specifically targeting single mothers in a “mothers go back to school” grant program.

Going back to school can seem like an overwhelming task to someone who is already working and running a household by herself. Many single mothers feel like they can’t take the time to take (and pay for) classes on top of their other responsibilities. But if you want the best jobs, you need to have the best education. That’s why you should take advantage of the available money while it’s here.

Remember that getting a college education no longer means leaving the home. There are many online universities today that are more convenient for a student who doesn’t have a lot of free time–or who doesn’t always know when their free time will come. Taking classes on the internet means you don’t have to be “in class” at any particular time (for the most part). So many single mothers could benefit by taking advantage of the scholarships and studying from home.

Pell Grants have been around for a while, but this new program does two things: It raises the amount you can get for a Pell Grant, and it increases approval rates for single mothers. If you’re interested in pursuing this benefit (and I recommend that you do), you should first choose a college or university. Make sure the school offers the degree program that you would like to pursue. Then fill out and turn in a deferred FAFSA form.

That doesn’t sound hard, does it? If you consider the benefits of having a college degree–such as better job opportunities that pay more–you will see that the effort will be well worth it. Check it out online today.
