Texas A&M has a strong and proud history of both agricultural and mechanical studies, which is what lends to the “A” and “M” in their name. This college, located in College Station, Texas, was established in 1871. Currently attending Texas A&M are approximately 37,000 undergraduates, 5,000 graduate students and 4,000 doctoral candidates. Rick Perry, the current governor of Texas, is a graduate of this college and was a member of the class of 1972.
This institution consistently ranks high when it comes to the quality and caliber of a public education. Texas A&M also enjoys a very favorable international reputation as well even though it is located in a fairly rural area of the eastern portion Texas. Further, this institution has participated in more than 500 research studies in 80 countries around the world.
Texas A&M is also a senior military college and is one of one six in the United States. This is a college that offers ROTC (Reserve Officer’s Training Corp) programs on campus. There are approximately 2,000 ROTC members on campus each year at Texas A&M. This college also has a very popular football team that is lovingly referred to by fans as the Aggies.
Aggie Transfer Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for incoming students who will be transferring to Texas A&M University from other institutions. Qualified applicants must have already completed 24 hours at another school and the annual award ranges from $500to $3,000. The scholarship committee is looking for applicants that show academic excellent, extracurricular activities, and leadership qualities.
Faye Leeth Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This award is named in honor of Faye Leeth was worked at Texas A&M as a veterans counselor in the Department of Student Financial Aid. This scholarship is for incoming freshman and is a one-time $1,000 award.
Honored Service Scholarship
The Honored Service Scholarship is intended for disabled veterans who enroll at Texas A&M. Each year 25 students are given this award, which is valued at $3,000. This scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies and other college related expenses.
Conoco Phillips Spirit Scholars Program
This scholarship is available to student pursuing a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD who are planning to engage in a career in the energy business. The scholarship is in the amount of $5,000 annually and also includes internship, mentoring and enrichment opportunities. Students must be enrolled full-time and have a minimum GPA of 3.25.
The Elizabeth Wade Lepley Endowed Scholarship
Available to freshman mathematics majors, this scholarship is valued at $1,250 per recipient. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0. The scholarship can be renewed through to the student’s sophomore year at Texas A&M.
Eppright Outstanding International Student Award
This award is presented once annually and is in the amount of $2,000. It is designed for international students who have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, service and extracurricular activities. To be eligible, the candidate must be a graduate student with a GPR of at least 3.5 or an undergraduate with a GPR of at least 3.0.
